José Castanheira, student of the Integrated Master in Computer Science (MIEI) of FCT NOVA won the Young Promise Award in the "Almada, land of arts and creativity" category of the Young Talents Competition of the City of Almada. He found in videogames the best way to reconcile arts and sciences. He intends to pursue a career as an independent videogame creator, already counting on several successes in the area. To compete, José Castanheira submitted his portfolio of games to the competition, whose latest creations are also available.
The Young Talent Contest «Almada, Cidade Educadora» is intended for young people between 12 and 35 years old (inclusive), students, residents or who develop relevant activity in the municipality of Almada.
José Castanheira is a MIEI 5th year student, and is currently developing his MSc thesis work, under the supervision of Armanda Rodrigues and Nuno Correia. He is planning the development of an interaction platform with digital archaeological objects in the region of Extremadura.
