The students from the 3rd year of the MIEI Integrated Master in Informatics Engineering, who this year attended the Engineering and Innovation Project strand of the curricular unit Practical Activity for Curricular Development (APDC-PEI), developed a fully functional software application with Web and Mobile component, for forest monitoring and fire prevention.
The APDC-PEI curricular unit is unique in the national academic panorama, allowing students to carry out in teams an engineering project with an innovation component, aimed at the development of a fully functional product, using good practices and emerging tools in the Cloud with production quality and scalability.
The final products, developed during the 2nd semester of 2017/18, were presented at a public session, which took place on July 17 at FCT NOVA, with the presence of colleagues, teachers and other members of the FCT NOVA community, representatives of several companies and the President of the Liga dos Bombeiros de Portugal (League of Portuguese Firefighters).
Congratulations to all teams that have successfully developed an engineering and innovation project with practical application in a very important area of intervention at national level, such as forest monitoring and fire prevention!
