The 40th anniversary of the Computer Science and Informatics at FCT NOVA was held on the 25th of November.
The session highlights included the presence of the NOVA Rector, the FCTUNL Director, which distinguished the former heads of department with a commemorative medal. The session included the NOVA LINCS / DI FCTUNL, Distinguished Lecture 2015, by Professor Jeannette M. Wing, vice-president of Microsoft Research, and formerly Professor and Head of the Computer Science Department at Carnegie Mellon University. Jeannette M. Wing presented her vision of “Computational Thinking” as a fundamental tool and skill in every field.
A lecture by the NOVA alumni Paulo Rosado, CEO of Outsystems followed, with the topic “The Future of IT Software Development”. The session concluded with a series of testimonies from students and recent alumni about their experience and future perspectives at NOVA.
